Ok, let's talk about what worked and didn't work during my trip.
(1) My rain gear. OVERKILL! I'm used to hiking in the SouthEast, where it can and does rain for days on end and the humidity makes it difficult to dry out wet gear. I would have been comfortable in a lightweight emergency poncho or rain jacket and no rain pants.
(2) I carried way too many socks. I started with 6 pairs of socks, but would have been ok with 3 pairs. Plenty of places to wash them and they dried in a very short period of time.
