Welcome to Phreak's 2008 John Muir Trail site.
The goal of my site is to give the visitor(s) an overview of what it was like to hike the John Muir Trail (JMT), a long-distance trail in the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California, running 211 miles (340 km) from Yosemite Valley south to the summit of Mt. Whitney.
I hiked the trail from Sep 5 - 20, 2008 with my friend Doodah Man. We hiked south to north, starting at Horseshoe Meadow Campground (20+ miles south of Mt. Whitney) and ending at Happy Isles in Yosemite Valley.
I'm including all the logistical information such as permits, resupply options, gear options, etc on this site to help any that may be planning to hike the JMT. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about my trip.
All information on the site is from personal experience, fellow hikers, publications and other web sites.
